Nintendo DS and Dsi Consoles

The Nintendo DS is sometimes in the short term referred to as the DS or NDS. Nintendo DS is a dual screen portable gaming console which was developed and marketed by the company named Nintendo. This gaming console was released in the year 2004 in the United States, Canada, and Japan.

The Nintendo DS gaming console is in the shape of clamp shell and has two large 3 inches LCD screens with a resolution of 256 × 192 pixels. The lower LCD has the touch screen option. The physical dimensions of the Nintendo DS gaming console are 5.85 inches × 3.33 inches × 1.13 inches.

It weighs only 300 grams. The Nintendo DS also features the micro built in speakers and micro-phones and also supports the wireless WI – FI standards, providing the scope for the players to interact with one another in short distances of 10 meters to 30 meters and can even plug it to the online connection with the Nintendo WI – FI service.

The console has the short code name called Nitro which appears in the model number such as the NTR -001. The dual screen of the gaming console is the distinct feature. The lower screen has the touch-screen option which is designed to take the input from the user’s fingers or the DS stylus, a plastic curved stick attached to the wrist strap. The touch- screen facilitates the users to open any menu from the game without having to press any buttons.

With the Picto-chat option one can even draw images or write texts with the help of the stylus tab. The customary controls are easy to operate which are positioned on the sides of the touch- screens. On the left side of the gaming console is the D-pad with the power button. The select and the start buttons are on the right side with additional control buttons of A, B and X, Y. To the lower half of the device is the left and right shoulder buttons. The Nintendo DS has the most powerful stereo speakers which produces the surround sound through the external speakers and the headphones.

The built in microphone feature serve various applications including speech recognition and online chatting during play. The device runs on two ARM processors one with 67 MHz and the other with 33 MHz.

With 4 MB of RAM, Flash memory of 256 KB, wireless and WI- FI compatibility the gaming device is sure to create a new definition to the world of gaming devices.
